What is a HydroBike?

The Hydrobike is the world’s most popular water bike. You will be amazed at how easy it is to pedal. With little effort, you can cruise at 5 miles per hour. Sit on the comfortable padded seat adjusted for your height to pedal – or stand up and stretch your legs whenever you feel like it and take in the beauty all around you!

How stable is it?

Super stable! When used appropriately it is almost impossible to tip over even when standing on the side decks. And you can easily ride and maneuver with little effort or stand up to stretch your legs and take in all the nature and beauty all around you!

Is there storage on the Hydrobike?

There is a handy storage console at the front of the bike where you can safely stash your water, phone (don’t forget your phone for taking photos!) and other personal items. What not to bring! Your music, because you might miss out on the real music.

What kind of clothing should I wear, will I get wet?

Any comfortable clothing. A hat for sun protection, maybe a sweatshirt or light jacket for cooler/inclement days (you can stash in the console) the average temperature year-round is about 67 degrees. If the wind really picks up, you might get a little splash on your shoes (don’t wear your best ones). Best to not wear anything loose around your ankles that could get caught in the chain.

What time of day is best to Hydrobike?

Mornings are almost always best. The last hour of a rising tide is the ideal scenario. (free ride into the Slough and a free ride back) Afternoons may have more onshore winds making it a little harder to ride. If it is too windy, we may limit the rental area or cancel rentals altogether. Unfortunately, weather conditions vary, and it is sometimes impossible to predict how the weather will be until the day-of or the day before your rental reservation. Call us directly if you want a weather report and we will give you the most up to date information. We can also check the Tide conditions. (it changes daily)

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, the weight limit is 300 lbs. and you must be able to clean any Eelgrass or debris from your propeller.

Can children ride them?

Hydrobikes are great for nature lovers of all ages because they are stable and easy to operate. Most children ages 9 and up are able to ride themselves if they are able to reach the pedals. 5 feet tall is a safe height.

How close can I get to wildlife?

Six Hydrobike lengths or 60’ is the rule of thumb to avoid disturbing animals. It is illegal to disturb, chase, touch or feed marine mammals who are protected by Federal Law and you may be fined if reported. Thanks for respecting the rules.
